Consider this a Friday treat.

  • Tell us about yourself (name, what you do, blog link and any other fun fact you would like to share)
Hey, my name is Bookie Kunlere, I’m the creative director for ShopBookieKunlere (a ready to wear line for women on a budget), I’m also a beauty blogger at bookiekunlere.com and I write fictional stories when I’m bored.
You can check out my book I’m In Love With A Married Man.
  •  Daily beauty regimen?
I’m very lazy with my beauty regimen when it comes to my face, oh but it entails a facial wash, salicylic acid toner, and vitamin c serum every day, facial scrub and mask once or twice in a week depending on how my face is feeling.
For my body, I use St. Ives shower gel (or Bath Fruits) and coconut oil.
For my hair, I condition with (recently) Africa Naturalistas Deep Conditioner, shampoo with Hawaiian Silky sulphate free Shampoo and moisturizer with a mix of Shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil and peppermint oil.
  • Would you say you have a signature beauty look?

Yes I do, nude makeup look is my go-to anytime, any event.

  • Does your makeup look of the day depends on your mood or outfit?

It depends on the event, yes, sometimes my outfit too.

  • One word for makeup and beauty trends in 2017?

Haha, I’d say “interesting”.

  • Makeup trend (s) that is/are a total no no for you?
Using all those ridiculous things to blend Foundation or concealer, I’d rather use a brush or a beauty blender thank you.
  • Biggest makeup peeve?

Unblended makeup; this includes concealer/foundation/eyeshadow. It’s not a good look at all. That’s my greatest makeup peeve.

  • What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?
I have a love/hate relationship with loose banana/translucent setting powders used for baking because you can turn into a ghost in minutes haha.
Also, mascaras. One annoying sneeze after applying my mascara and it’s ruined.
  • If you had to choose only 3 makeup products, what would they be?

Foundation, falsies, and highlighter because #glowgang.

  • Favourite Nigerian makeup brands (s)?

I’m a Classic Makeup USA stan so I love most of their products like the Face Contour Kit and Liquid Lipsticks.

  • Current beauty favourites?
I’m loving my Face Contour Kit by Classic Makeup USA. It’s a beautifully pigmented palette and it’s only less than N2000 (beauty cheapskate!)
  • Tips on getting the perfect glow (cos girl you always glow)
Haha, thank you. I swipe, swipe, swipe then layer my highlighter on the highest point of my cheekbones, that way the glow stays on all day and I enjoy the pigmentation of the highlighter.
Also, I use shimmery highlighters loosely because they tend to be all over the place. I also mix both shimmery and non-shimmery highlighters, it just depends on how I feel.
  • What’s your go to lip colour?
My go-to lip color is a fleshy nude.
I get the combo by using L.A. Girl lip liners in Party Pink (I apply just a little) and Natural Creme, then layer it with L.A. Girl luxury lipstick in Amour.
  • Perfect Eyebrows; Gel or Pencil

I’ve never used gel before but a pencil is easier to weld, so pencil it is for now.

  • One makeup tip/trick you feel everyone should know?

Spray your shader brush with some setting spray/fixing spray before applying shimmery eyeshadows so they look like foiled eyeshadows and are more pigmented on your eyelids.

The only trick you need to achieve the foiled eyeshadow look, yes a very easy DIY Click To Tweet
